Digitalizing Weather Records on Kandilli Rasat Notebooks [Duration: 2 terms]
Suggested Team Size: 3-4 students
Duration: 2 semesters
Brief Description:
Kandilli Meteorology Laboratory has been making continuous climate measurements at the same point since July 1911. Kandilli Meteorology Laboratory maintains its feature of being the longest climate data of Turkey with 111 years of data formed as a result of climate measurements. We want to start a study to convert this data into digital form.
Here is the data we have:
- Hourly transcripts from 1932 to 2000 (with in-table handwriting on printed paper)
- Observation book records handwritten in the printed book from 1911 to 2022
- Graph papers from 1911 to 2022
Main focus of the project will be converting analog graph papers to digital (numerical) plot data.
Data will be provided as required by the project team.
